先週末から追加した、「ウクライナ情勢」のトレンド・コラム一覧です（下記参照）。
まとまった分量を4日間連続でアップしたので、相当のエネルギーを注ぎました・・・。
うち3本は、この「やさしい英語ニュース」で取り上げた「スポーツ界のロシア選手排除」がテーマです。
特に、テニスのATPツアーに思い入れがあり、当事者であるウクライナ人、ロシア人双方の視点に立ちました。

「ロシア人選手を締め出して、プーチン政権に内側から圧力をかけるべき」という考えには、一概には同意できません。
一見、正論に聞こえますが、独裁政権に国民が立ち向かうのは容易ではなく、自分や家族に身の危険が及ぶ可能性すらあるからです。
また、ロシアという国を代表する団体スポーツは無理だとしても、個人競技への参加は認められるべきだと思います。
スティングの “Russians” で歌われている冷戦時代、西側諸国が大挙して、政治的理由でモスクワ五輪をボイコットしたのを思い出します。
「当時の日本は西側の一員」、「今のロシアは侵略国」という意味で、確かに立場は違います。
が、「スポーツ選手が、政治に巻き込まれて国際試合に出場できない」という意味では、何ら変わりありません。
JOCの不参加表明で、日本人アスリートたちがこぼした「悔し涙」を、現代のロシア人選手たちが流さなくて済むように祈っています。

I feel deeply sorry for Russian athletes. Of course they don’t have any responsibilities for this war, but we are required to plead for peace of Ukraine. We have to do whatever we can to help stop the war. So I think it’s necessary to ban them from games to show the message of NO WAR to Putin. I want him to realize that victims of this war are not only Ukrainian people but also Russian people.
ロシアの選手には本当に気の毒でなりませんが、それでもウクライナの人々のためにできること、反戦を訴えるためにできることを可能な限りしていくことが、少しでもこの戦争を食い止めるきっかけになればいいなと願います。
I don’t think it’s good to keep “Russia” out just because they are from Russia. Especially athletes and artists working around the world should be free from nationality or race. Of course I can’t permit the violence of Russia,but I’m worried about racism.
芸術家について言えば、そのコンサートや催物に協力団体やスポンサーが付けば、特にロシアのような国では国や政治と大きく関わってくることは理解出来ます。しかしスポーツも芸術も、観客は純粋にそれらを楽しみ、プレーヤーの人間性に触れて、皆が豊かになっていくのですよね。今後、そのようなプレーヤー達が「ロシア」ということだけで排除されるのは非常に気がかりです。
I kind of understand that this is one of the sanctions to put pressure on Russia to stop the invasion. However, I also feel sorry for Russian and Belarusian athletes. I imagine that some of them have been brainwashed by the governments, while others probably can not do anything even though they are against this invasion. They are just athletes not criminals who have been working so hard for events, and it should not be matter which country he or she comes from. This article also reminds me of a Belarusian track and field woman who sought asylum in Poland after she had competed in the Tokyo Olympic Games last year. I bet many citizens and athletes of these countries are eager to do so if they have a chance to do, though having to leave your own country is sad.
色々な思いが出てしまい長くなってしまいました。一般市民、そしてこの記事のように選手が巻き込まれてしまう戦争は「百害あって一利なし」ですね。
