It’s a good thing to fill US ambassador in Japan for the first time in two years. That’s because that position is so important to make the ties between the US and Japan strong. I also heard he is called Rambo because of his aggressive demeanor, so I will pay attention to his comments about safety and economy.
考えても意見がなかなか出て来ず、いかに駐日米国大使について何も知らないを思い知りました。。
It is hard to understand why the U.S., which put so much importance on relationship with Japan, left the position of ambassador vacant for over two years. I hope Mr. Emanuel will use his extraordinary political skills to the benefit of ‘both’ Japan and the US. It’s a win-win situation.

An aggressive demeanor can be good or bad. It may be effective in dealing with China. However, I’m a little concerned America will become dominant in the US-Japan relationship because of its “aggressive” new ambassador. I hope Japan can be assertive and speak up when it needs to.

I was surprised that the post of U.S. ambassador had been vacant so long. One of the big issues for Japan is that of the military bases in Okinawa. I hope he will visit there and listen to the real voice of the people, though concerned about his aggressiveness and abrasiveness.
