◆ Pandemic exacerbates chronic loneliness in Japan

(The) (p)andemic (exacerbated) chronic loneliness in Japan.

◆ has worsened already high rates of loneliness in Japan,

◆ especially among those in their 20s and 30s.

◆ Previously, people were already becoming increasingly isolated,

◆ with more living alone and fewer interactions outside the home,

「with A and B(AとBのために)」の形になっており、Aが「more living alone」、Bが「fewer interactions outside the home」です。

「more living alone」は、「more (people) living alone」と「people」を補って考えます。

◆ and since COVID struck,

I think one thing the government can do to combat loneliness is take more aggressive steps to curb the pandemic by promoting booster shots. Only 44% of the population has received the third shot. As a way of encouraging people to get it, a 20% discount for sports events is laughably insufficient.

  1. Misha より:

One of the best ways to deal with this challenging time is to set goals and try to achieve them. For example, you can read a long historical novel you’ve always wanted to read or sit down and study for the exam you meant to pass long ago. So why not stop whining and start doing what you can while you have plenty of time alone? You’ll be glad you did!
