自民党の杉田水脈（すぎた・みお）衆院議員（比例中国ブロック）が月刊誌への寄稿で、性的少数者（ＬＧＢＴなど）について

「ＬＧＢＴのカップルのために税金を使うことに賛同が得られるものでしょうか。彼ら彼女らは子どもを作らない、つまり生産性がないのです」などと書き、ネット上で炎上している。

杉田氏はツイッター上で＜全文を読んでから批判してほしい＞と反論したが、性的少数者のみならず高齢者や子のない夫婦も否定するかのような内容で、批判が広がっている。

編集後記

与党の国会議員が不適切な言動をしてネット上で炎上する、というパターン、何度も繰り返されている気がします。

杉田議員に関しては、現時点ではあまり悪びれている様子は見受けられませんが・・・。

いずれにしても、「子どもを作らない＝生産性がない」と結びつける発想は、あまりに短絡的で無神経に感じられます。
