Q1) Why do you think most politicians and managers in Japan are men?
I think it’s because of the old system. Many companies and politics were built by men, so it’s still hard for women to get the same chances, even today.
Q2) Do you feel that firefighting and construction jobs suit men better?
Not really. These jobs need strength, but also teamwork and skill. If women are trained the same way, I think they can do them just as well as men.
Q3) Have you ever questioned old fairy tales where weak princesses are saved by princes?
Yes, especially when I got older. I realized those stories often show women as helpless, which doesn’t match real life anymore. I prefer stories with stronger female roles.
Q4) Do you feel that older people in Japan expect young women to support men?
Yes, I’ve seen that. Some older people still think women should cook or serve tea. But things are changing now, especially among younger generations.
Q5) Do you feel uncomfortable when men wash dishes or change diapers?
No, not at all. I think it’s normal. If both partners work, they should also share housework and childcare. It’s more balanced and fair that way.
Q6) Do you think women enjoy more freedom to travel in Japan?
Maybe yes. I often see solo female travelers in Japan. They seem to feel safer than in other countries. Also, society doesn’t judge women for traveling alone much.
Q7) Do you think men in Japan carry too much responsibility to support their families?
Yes, I think so. Many men still feel they must work long hours to provide. That pressure can lead to stress or even burnout, especially if the wife also works.
Q8) As a child, did your parents give you toys based on your gender?
Yes, they did. I got dolls and a toy kitchen. My brother got cars and robots. I didn’t think much about it back then, but now it feels a bit limiting.
