Under the difficult circumstances due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we need strong leaders. Being strong is not enough. They need to be wise as well. But there may be no such leaders. It is us, every ordinary person, that have to be “strong and wise.”

I think Dr. Harari’s perspective as a historian is very unique. We all know that there were many epidemics in history. But his warning that epidemics could have a major impact on politics as well as on the economy is shocking. His views, backed up by history, are very convincing.

I agree with Harari’s idea, which is the pandemic is “the years of choice”. That’s because we have made decisive choices through past two years since the coronavirus outbreak, and I believe they lead to a better tomorrow.

If the COVID-19 pandemic is not contained from the world, it would break out riots in some places. When it becomes so, some leaders of authoritarianism would start a war so that dispel people’s discontent. It’s really frightening．

It’s a shame that developed countries have sacrificed developing countries. All I can do is stay home and worry over the situation, seized by a sense of helplessness. I hope more and more people in developing countries will get vaccinated.

As Mr.Harari pointed out, the public tend to prefer a powerful leader or policies in emergencies. How about Japan’s prime minister Kishida? In the election campaign, he said he is a good listener. I hope democracies in Japan will not collapse. I also think vaccines should be distributed equally, particularly in developing countries.

This pandemic spreads from China aiming at dictatorship, and a lot of dead people in Europe and America, and the new variation from Africa shows the explosive expanse. In a sense I feel that the system in all countries catches the trial.

I learned why the pandemic can make a dictator or authoritarianism from watching Harari’s interview video. And I agree what needs most is “choice” and “flexibility” in the era of Covid-19. I was very impressed by his opinion so I would like to read more of his writings.

I’ve learned the influence of the pandemic and how democracies collapse by Harari. I hope the global political leaders keep the balance both of public health and economy.

The COVID-19 pandemic may be teaching a lesson to human beings who have become arrogant, greedy, and selfish. It may be time for us to learn to be humble, content, and kind to others. I believe it’s the first, easiest step that anyone can take to overcome the crisis together.

I’ve been thinking that this pandemic gives us challenge to make a better world. I think the developed countries should aid the developing countries much more and I hope the pandemic is contained soon. I want to be a good ancestor in history.

We need to perform screening tests to reduce damage to healthy people. In a sense, it seems to have an economic effect; it is best to think about possible measures on time while balancing budget and health damage. I think it’s hard, but I think it’s necessary.
