米大リーグ、マリナーズのイチロー外野手（35）は13日、テキサス州アーリントンのレンジャーズ・ボールパークで行われたレンジャーズとのダブルヘッダーで各１安打を放って今季200安打とし、大リーグ史上初の９年連続200安打を達成した。
イチローは昨季、ウィリー・キーラー（オリオールズなど）が1894年から1901年に記録した８年連続に並び、今季出場128試合目で100年以上破られなかった記録を更新する快挙を成し遂げた。

今日はネタを決めるのにちょっと迷いました。というのも、イチロー選手のニュースはちょうど1週間前の月曜日に取り上げたばかりだったので。
そのときは大リーグ通算2000安打で、今回は9年連続の200安打。たった1週間の間隔で２つの大記録を達成するとはスゴすぎです。
今日はテレビも新聞もネットニュースもこれをトップ記事として報道していたため、やはり無視できませんでした^^; それほどの偉業なんですね・・・。
偶然ですが、イチロー選手の記録には２が多いですね。今回もダブルヘッダー2試合目の2回に200安打を達成しましたし。今後、どこまで記録を伸ばしていくのか楽しみです。
